How to prepare for my newborn session

How do I prepare my baby for the shoot?

Before the shoot I recommend trying to keep her awake as long as possible.

If at all possible, delay the feeding until I arrive. I will take about 20 minutes to set up my equipment. At that time you can feed her.

We want her to be nice and full.  Also, have her dressed in something that's easy to remove.

What do I need for the session?

I will bring everything for the photoshoot. Backgrounds, lights, props, etc. I will be bringing different props and wraps. I will be setting up a mini studio in your house, I'll need a small space cleared out for me.

If you have any special items or outfit that you would like included in the session please have them available.

Keep baby wipes, towels, pacifiers, diapers and blankets close by Also, since we will be undressing her, keep the room at a comfortable temperature for her. I do bring things with me that keep the area warm.

How long does a newborn photography session take?

A session can take about 3 hours.  I am completely guided by her and she is in charge! Babies do get fussy. If she needs to eat or goes to the bathroom (which happens a lot) we will stop and ensure that she is completely comfortable before we start again.  To prepare for fussy moments, you’ll want to have a few things ready — a pacifier, a bottle of formula/breastmilk, a blanket, and a few clean diapers. I've had babies that sleep all session and some that cry the whole time.

Most importantly all my props, backgrounds and blankets are cleaned before every session. I wash my hands before I handle any baby and constantly sanitize my hands throughout the session.
